Residential Bounce House Guide

residential bounce houses

The residential bounce house category has become extremely popular over the last few years. Manufacturers are now making models that are more appropriate for backyard use, which are far less expensive than the commercial models you will see rental companies using.

There are some key differences to note, which is why we wanted to write this guide for home inflatables.

Appropriate Usage of a Residential Bounce House

Residential bounce houses are typically much smaller. Each model has their own limits on the number of children it can accommodate. Usually, manufacturers will only recommend 4-5 children, and up to a 500-pound weight limit.

It is extremely important to follow these regulations because it could lead to injury if there are too many children using it at once.

Additionally, it is worth noting that you need to assemble and disassemble the bounce house after each usage. It is not recommended that you leave it out in the backyard where the elements can destroy the material.

To give you a brief overview of how to set it up you will need to:

  • Use a flat, soft surface such as grass (it is not recommended to use on concrete)
  • Be close enough to a grounded electrical outlet to hook up the blower. It only takes several minutes to inflate.
  • Anchor the bounce house to the ground
  • Deflate and roll up for storage when finished

The whole process doesn't take too long; you can figure anywhere between 10-15 minutes for each usage. Parents should know that there is some effort required to get it up and going when the kids want to play!

Caring for a Residential Bounce House

If you want your unit to last, there are a few maintenance considerations.

Before each usage, you should check for punctures or tears in the fabric. Most manufacturers provide patches that allow you to fix them before they get too large.

It is best to store it in a cool dry place indoors. If you have a water slide unit you also want to make sure the unit is completely dry before you put it away.

When it comes to cleaning you can take a few steps:

  • Use a shop vac to clear out all debris and dirt
  • Clean and disinfect with a solution like Lysol or Simple Green
  • If your unit has a slide you can use a lubricant like Armor All, Pledge, or Slide Slick
